GED Subject Test

There are five subject tests: Language Arts-Writing (Writing Skills), Mathematics, Science, Social Studies and Language Arts-Reading (Literature and the Arts). Examinees must obtain the minimum required scores on the GED Test and the Illinois and United States Constitution Test to secure the High School Equivalency Certificate.


Language Arts: Writing - Part I
(50 questions, 75 minutes)

An applicant shall make a standard score of 410 or above on each of the five tests and a total standard score of at least 2,250 on the entire battery (average score of 450 on all tests).

NOTE:  In the event that a larger number of candidates apply for an exam than we can accommodate, an additional testing session(s) maybe be scheduled.

If the number of candidates requesting only certain subject tests is large, a make-up for partials may be scheduled.

If applicant numbers are low as determined on 4 working days before test date, test session(s) may be cancelled.  ROE staff will notify candidates and schools and applicants will be invited to next test dates scheduled.
